WNU Weekends: Paris

The home of the first ever WNU shoot – is there anywhere better than Paris?

Location: Paris, France.

Recommended Season: All year round, natch.

Average Temperature: From 4 degrees in Jan, to 20 degrees midsummer.

Distance from WNU HQ: 306 miles

To Stay: It’s got to be le Pigalle.  As far as hotels go it’s reasonable and really cool. Right by a metro station, and walkable down to the river.
Downstairs is a cool bar so ideal for a drink before you go out.

To Do: Take the right shoes – the joy of Paris is in the wandering. The obvious haunts can’t be beaten either, like the Musee D’Orsay.

To Pack: A white WNU, jeans and a ballet flat is a failsafe Paris uniform. In the colder months throw a Brushed Alaska over a Breton for an elegant, layered look. And in the evenings? It’s the Silk Onyx and a red lip of course.

To Eat: Take a seat at Cafe Hugo on Place des Vosges for lunch, it’s always time for wine in Paris, and we recommend the croque monsieur of course!
For dinner, a quintessential French situation beckons at Le Bon George’s, down the road from Le Pigalle hotel. Steak and red wine are a must.

To Sit: Café de Flore, for the ultimate Parisienne people watching.

To Walk: Everywhere! Spend the day enjoying everything the Marais has to offer from cafes to vintage shops.

For the Evening: Cocktails at Brasserie Lip, and then wander up to Montmartre for spectacular views over Paris. Dine at locals’ favourite, and one of the few not touristy restaurants in the area, Restaurant Le Poulbot.

To Buy: Chez Hana - falafel in the Marais - a must for lunch! Takeaway and eat as you walk (we know, our mother wouldn’t approve either). Prints from the side of the Seine make great gifts to take home and frame.
